DDK Racing Team Battles Through Rain to Strong Finish at Nürburgring WEC

Yesterday, DDK Racing took on the grueling 8 Hours of Nürburgring WEC in the PEC Endurance League with two cars, competing in both the Pro and Am classes. It was an intense race featuring a mix of dry and wet conditions, making for a true test of skill and endurance. The first two hours of the race saw dry conditions, but soon after, the skies opened up, and heavy rain persisted for almost the remainder of the race. This made track conditions extremely challenging, but our drivers adapted brilliantly to the ever-changing grip levels.

Pro Class - #126 Ford Mustang

The #126 Ford Mustang, piloted by Ryan Harper and Ruben Berings, started from P13 in qualifying but showcased impressive pace and consistency throughout the race. Despite a smooth run for most of the event, there was one minor setback when Ryan unfortunately locked up under braking on a wet white line, resulting in light contact with the wall. However, the team quickly regained their momentum and fought their way up to an outstanding P4 finish. A fantastic effort by both drivers!

Am Class - #226 Ferrari

In the Am class, the #226 Ferrari, driven by Gilles Philippaerts and Brecht Berings, started in a strong position with Gilles securing P2 in class during qualifying. The race was going well until the team encountered a major setback halfway through the event when their Ferrari got caught between a GT3 and a GTP car, sustaining heavy damage. This resulted in an 8-minute repair stop, costing them valuable track time.

Despite the setback, both Gilles and Brecht showed incredible determination, pushing hard to recover lost positions. Their perseverance paid off as they battled back to finish P4 in their class, a truly commendable effort given the circumstances!

A Proud Performanc

We are incredibly proud of the entire team for their outstanding performances in such tough conditions. Both our Pro and Am teams displayed great skill, resilience, and teamwork to bring home solid P4 finishes.

A huge thank you to our drivers for their hard work and commitment. On to the next challenge!
